Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja survives impeachment
Embattled Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja will remain the county boss after the Senate Committed termed the allegations against him by the MCA’s unsubstantiated.
On October 9, 30 MCAs voted to impeach Samboja, in a special motion that was moved by Rong’e MCA Harris Keke.
The MCA alleged that Samboja was not fit to lead the county due to his failure to submit to the county assembly an annual report on the implementation status of the county policies and plans, misappropriation of funds as well as misleading the people of Taita Taveta in dissolving the county.
However, despite overcoming the impeachment obstacle the Senate Committee members urged Samboja to restrain from being a Radio DJ on Milele FM and focus on working for the people of Taita Taveta County.
“He should stop being a Radio DJ and focus on delivering services to the people of Taita Taveta,” said Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang.
“You can be a DJ during the weekend but on Monday at 8 am be in the office to serve Taita Taveta residents,” said Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.
