Ekuru Aukot now challenges the BBI in High court
The Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot has moved to court to challenge the constitutionality of the Building Bridges Initiative, the case will be heard on Wednesday, October 16 in Nairobi.
The court case comes at a time when the BBI report is also expected to be out since the team promised Kenyans that by the end of October they will know what details the BBI.
However, the release of the BBI report now has one hurdle to overcome after the ThirWay Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot filed a petition in High Court seeking for the disbandment of the BBI team on grounds that it was formed unconstitutionally.
In his case, Aukot also claimed that even the members who represent the BBI were not vetted and there was no public participation.

He further insisted that the BBI exercise has continued to take more money from the public coffers to conduct its operations thus adding heavy financial costs to the common mwanainchi.
On the other end, so far 16 counties have rejected the Punguza Mzigo Bill fronted by Aukot’s party. Uasin Gishu county remains the only regional government that has passed the Bill.
Aukot needs at least 24 counties to pass the Punguza Mzigo Bill for it to proceed to a referendum.
