This is just political witch hunt, Elizabeth Ongoro speaks over Sh48 million graft allegation facing her

Nairobi politics are behind my woes with EACC over the Sh48 million graft allegation, former Kasarani MP Elizabeth Ongoro has said.

While presenting herself at the EACC’s Integrity Center on Thursday, Ongoro said her rivals in the city politics are behind her current predicament with the ethics sleuths.

“This is a political battle and the battle is for me. This is a process of eliminating Elizabeth Ongoro from Nairobi politics,” she said.

However, the MP did not specify identities of the alleged political brokers behind her woes.

After a three hours grilling by EACC, the former legislator said, no funds were lost in ghost projects but the money was diverted to construct Kariobangi Girls High School.

“The funds that were meant for Kasarani Girls were transferred and we built Karaiobangi Girls within the same Constituency. Where is the problem?” Ongoro said.

She further urged the EACC team to investigate whether they diverted funds did the construction at Kariobangi Girls in 2009.

Ongoro will appear in court on Monday.
