Help me fight City Hall cartels, Governor Mike Sonko plea to Uhuru
Nairobi County governor Mike Sonko has pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to help him fight City Hall cartels.
The embattled county chief fronted his request to the Head of State on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Nairobi-Suswa SGR line (Phase 2A) accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
“Today is not a day for politics but development, we want to thank you while you were in NewYork we had a tragedy in Nairobi but we are grateful for your aid. People should stop blaming the Ministry of education over what happened at Precious Talent School because all building plans are under the county government,” said Sonko.
“However, Mr President the cartels we are trying to dismantle in Nairobi time has come that you should intervene. We cannot be losing citizens every day. I am requesting you, Mr President, the cartel that is in City Hall is big please help me dismantle it,” he added.
Phase 2A to Naivasha passes through the five counties of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Nakuru and Narok.
Sonko has been faced with allegations of misappropriation of county funds and he is been trailed by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC)
